DYNAMIC DUO

While it is always great to fete local eateries for their individual achievements, it is even more fun and rewarding when I can talk about two at once!

I recently published a story in the Newton Beacon about a pair of Garden City legends that have combined forces in a delicious way.

Cabot’s Ice Cream and Farm Grill were recently side by side at a fundrasier for the Carroll Center for the Blind. Long-time friends Joe Prestejohn of Cabot’s and Alex Iliades of the Grille got to talking and decided that, like the famous peanut butter cups, putting Farm Grill’s freshly-made baklava in Cabot’s creamy homemade ice cream would be a good idea.

And boy is it!

While there is no better way to finish a meal at Farm Grill than with their baklava, they may have topped themselves with this one! Another benefit is that it gives people in an entirely different village of Newton a more convenient opportunity to enjoy Cabot’s ice cream!

That being said, either place is always worth a visit on its own.

Whether you want a freshly-dupped and hand-spun shake, a frozen yogurt sundae that is easier to justify on your diet, or a cone for a special treat, or an entire party in a box like the 10-pint Gillen Special or the 36-pint masterpiece known as the Taj Mahal, Cabot’s has had what Newton needs for generations.

As for the Farm Grille, whether you want the best Greek salad around (made with their own salad dressing which you can also buy bottled), hand-carved kebabs, or even the occasional octopus, Farm Grill is Hellenic heaven!

Be sure to visit both and to see what dreams may come of creative collaborations between neighbors and friends.
