When not talking about food, I am writing about music.
My latest triumph is my new book, Pete’s Beat, which I have been bringing to bookstores, libraries, and other events all over.
I recently presented Pete’s Beat at the New Orleans Book Festival, the New England Music Therapy Association Conference, and the MA PTA conference.
On the weekend of April 24-26, I will be at the annual New England Folk Festival, hosted by the Best Western Royal Plaza in Marlborough, MA.
In addition to some of the most talented and dedicated traditional musicians around, the festival offers hands-on and interactive activities that will engage musicians and dancers of all ages and interests. My story time event with Pete’s Beat is Saturday at 2:30, and there will also be face painting, bracelet making, and music and dance lessons of all kinds, including everything from Cajun two-step and contra dancing to Jazz and Klezmer, as well as sing-alongs featuring the music of the Beatles and Tom Lehrer, and (of course) hand drumming!
With all there is to do, guests will surely work up an appetite! Fortunately, there will be a number of area eateries represented, including tacos from Braised and Tacofied, Lordya Gourmet’s famous Haitian cuisine, Filipino street food from Gingerlove in Northampton, the tasty team at Trolley Dogs, Providence faves Hometown Poké & Bubble Tea and Matilda’s Empanadas, and The Tasty Gelato and more for dessert!
So stop fiddling around and square up some tickets for this fun music- and food-filled weekend.
