Il Molo

Matt regularly appears with Jordan Rich on “Connoisseur’s Corner” which airs on WBZ (http://boston.cbslocal.com) weekdays at 11:55 AM.

The following is a “script” for one of Matt’s forthcoming segments:

Il Molo

The North End is known for its family-owned, family-style, and family-friendly restaurants. Recently, a new place that is backed by established North End cred emerged that combines all of these.

Named Il Molo, which means “the pier,” the new venue from Donato Frattaroli and his, son Donato, Jr., features simply prepared dishes featuring only the freshest seafood and other regional delights.

As the Donato family has operated restaurants in the neighborhood for 40 years and as they are behind the annual food festival known as Taste of the North End (which takes place in April), they know the food vendors and the community and are therefore experts at what people want and how to deliver it to them in the most efficient and appealing ways. As they realized that the neighborhood was lacking a fresh fish place that combined Old World recipes with contemporary flair, they put decades of experience together and created Il Molo.

Chef Pino Maffeo has already won “Food & Wine” Magazine’s Best New Chefs awards and, if the great food and neighborhood atmosphere were not enough, they will also be hosting a bocce tournament on September 11 and other fun events as well.

So if you want to find a new place in the Old Neighborhood, or just want to toss a ball underhand while you sip a high ball, just head to Il Molo. It is a pier with no peer!
