The following is a “script” for one of Matt’s forthcoming segments:

The Big E

The Big E turns 100 this year, and to celebrate, they are going even more all-out with the food and festivities that usual!

For those who have not yet been, the Big E is an agricultural exposition that started in Springfield in 1916 and has expanded into a nearly month-long celebration of all that is great about New England.

From September 16-October 2, the BIG E will bring back its famed replicas of each New England state’s capital, as well as rides, games, and shows that will range from horses to horsepower, . In addition to musical acts such as Elle King and George Thoroughgood, the E will also feature foods ranging from the famed city of butter (which is exactly what it sounds like) to the 18-inch brat known as the “German Giant, the Saints fan favorite “Who Dat” Po’boy, bacon cheeseburgers bunned by glazed donuts, waffle breakfast sandwiches (featuring Vermont maple syrup, of course), fried dough tacos, fries topped with both chocolate AND bacon, and blueberry pierogis or the E’s legendary cream puffs for dessert (or just a snack).

Fort those who wish to leave the E not looking like a prized cow, there are also plenty of delicious salads, fruits, and other lighter fare, and no glut of gluten-free options. There will even be local wine and cheese tastings. As has ben the case for 100 years, the Big E truly has something for everyone, even if you are not from New England.
