Catalyst Cafe to open in Kendall Square

Matt regularly appears with Jordan Rich on “Connoisseur’s Corner” which airs on WBZ (http://boston.cbslocal.com) weekdays at 11:55 AM.

The following is a “script” for one of Matt’s forthcoming segments:

Catalyst Café

Having made a positive reaction for the past five years with Catalyst, pedigreed and internationally-lauded Kendall Square chef and father of three William Kovel is ready to add to his juggling act by opening a second setting for his award-winning foods at the nearby Catalyst Café on Binney Street.

With a focus more on morning and midday meals, the Café will combine Kovel’s signature creativity and dedication to local bounty with a new energy encapsulated in a more cellular space.

This new European style café will offer not only breakfast, lunch, but also catering, allowing area offices and residents to bring Chef Kovel’s magic to them by ordering through a new proprietary app! And while the service may be faster (Kovel promises order turnaround in 8-12 minutes) and the menu a bit tighter, all of Chef’s creativity and care for his local produce and local (and distant) customers (many of whom come from many towns away) will still be in full effect.

Based around a gleaming and mouth-watering display case of prepared foods, the Café will offer sandwiches, smoothies, smoothie bowls and grain salads, all made from scratch down to the house-made coffee syrups and daily pastries. As the new venue is intended more for area professionals, it will only be open weekdays, but fans are always welcome to head around the corner to the original Catalyst for all it has to offer.
