The following is a “script” for one of Matt’s forthcoming segments:

It’s always sad to see a great restaurant go away, but sometimes, a new one comes in that fills the void in a fresh new way.

I was a big fan of Flora in Arlington not only for the food bur also because it was a regular stop for our dear friends the Winiker Brothers, who are beyond a doubt the best party and event band in New England.

When Flora closed, I felt something was missing on the suburban scene. Fortunately, the historic space in the Arlington Five Cent Bank building has been revived by the recently-reunited dynamic duo of InterContinental Hotel alumnae Cyrille Couet and Wayne Duprey.

Together, the chef and manager (alongside former Flora manager Carla Dorato) have renovated the building and the menu to reflect the best it can be. Under the barrel-vaulted ceiling, guests will be able to watch Chef Couet work his culinary magic. Some guests will soon be able to dine in the vault itself! The main room will feature traditional French fare. Next to the dining room, the Duet bar will offer casual fare as well as locally-distilled spirits and rare French herbal liquers that complement Chef Couet’s native flavors.
