Greater Boston Food Bank serves up Click ‘N’ Cook

Matt regularly appears with Jordan Rich on “Connoisseur’s Corner” which airs on Boston’s 50,000-watt CBS affiliate WBZ AM 1030 weekdays at 11:55 AM.

The following is a “script” for one of Matt’s forthcoming segments:

We recently talked about how October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and how Bakes for Breast Cancer is raising money to help research through food, but another great food-related cause that is near and dear to my heart (as I met my wife there) is the Greater Boston Food Bank, who recently launched a new initiative of their own.

Click ‘N’ Cook (which can be found at www.ClickNCook.org) is an online recipe resource that helps people make healthy meals using affordable everyday ingredients. Every one of the over 500 easy-to-follow recipes has been evaluated by the Food Bank’s registered dietitians and includes nutrition values. The site also offers a “Healthy Tips” blog with nutrition guidance and other handy advice. There is no need for any particular color of vegetable or apron- these are meals that anyone can make using things they have just by searching according to up to three ingredients. In addition to helping themselves to healthy meals, users can also provide healthy meals to families in need across Eastern Massachusetts by donating to the Food Bank’s Holiday Meal Drive. Every $20 provides a healthy meal for a family of five.

So the next time you have a pantry that would make Old Mother Hubbard blush, go to  www.ClickNCook.org and satisfy yourself while helping others as well!
