With all the food talk that we do, it can be easy to forget that, for every lucky individual who can choose what and where they want to eat, there are many more who do not have the choice. It has gotten to the point, in fact, that two of the biggest problems in our country and the world are obesity and hunger.
While we are also lucky to have organizations like Greater Boston Food Bank, No Kid Hungry, and Mazon, the problems are bigger than any of them an handle and so we all must participate.
On April 19, the annual FoodTank Summit will focus on this paradox of excess and scarcity and also discuss other prevalent issues in the food world. Among the special speakers and presenters who will convene at Royale on Tremont Street will be Mass Farmers Market Director Jeff Cole, Community Servings Executive Chef Kevin Conner, James Beard Foundation Director Katherine Miller, and Tufts’ Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy Professors Eileen Kennedy and Norbert Wilson.
