The following is a “script” for one of Matt’s segments:

Though the South End is known for its extraordinary array of international eateries, sometimes you just wanna’ good slice of pizza.

Fortunately, there is now Union Park Pizza on Washington Street right across from the Cathedral of the Holy Cross.

Though it is in the same spot as the legendary Harry O’s, Union Park Pizza started from the ground up with their shop and with their pies. Using imported Italian “00” flour, Union Park makes a dough that owner Joe Sylva perfected while working for over a decade at other popular pizzerias in the area. He tops each one with homemade organic tomato sauce that also features locally-sourced herbs. After that, options include garlic-infused olive oil, Mycotera Farms’ mushroom blend, Moody’s meats, and oven-roasted free-range chicken from Dole & Bailey. While you wait for your customized pie to cook in the gas-fired brick oven, you can enjoy their fresh salad with a homemade Ranch that puts Hidden Valley to shame.

For those in a rush, slices and salads to go are also available, as are locally-sourced Polar beverages.

So the next time you want a great slice in the neighborhood (even if the South End is not your neighborhood), stop by Union Park Pizza and see what’s cookin’
