Thanks for listening and thanks for supporting our friends and neighbors in the food-service industry!

While I will always be loyal to Abbott’s Frozen Custard, I must admit that I am excited to see that the Cookie Monstah is opening a new shop in Needham.

Created by a Boston-bred mom of four who caught the baking bug at the age of 15 and went on to bake for such vaunted venues as Locke Ober, 75 Chestnut, and Filene’s, Cookie Monstah started as a Boston-based frozen food truck but has since expanded to open stores in Burlington, Danvers, Swampscott, and now Needham.

No matter where you go (or if you ask their famous truck to come to you for a special event or just to feed a handmade ice cream sandwich craving), the cookies are crafted with Callebut chocolate, real vanilla, farm-fresh butter, Richardson’s ice cream, and (for the older Monstahs) bourbon and come in a wide and ever-expanding menu of flavors that includes apple cider, Birthday cake, oatmeal pumpkin white chocolate, red velvet, salted caramel, and the brownie-based brookie. There is also a gluten-sensitive chocolate chip option so almost everyone can get in on the homemade fun!

So even if you are not fortunate enough to see the famous truck rolling through your neighborhood, you now have one more neighborhood to visit to get your Cookie Monstah fix.

Now only if they had a Snuffleupa-gas station around here!
