The following is a “script” for one of Matt’s segments:

Summer in New England has historically been a great time to get out and enjoy all the natural bounty with which our region has been blessed.

Sadly, this summer, many of our local farms and farmers markets are suffering because people are afraid to venture out and mingle with the people who make their food.

Fortunately, the folks at Sustainable Business Network of Massachusetts (who may be best known to Matt’s Meals fans as the people behind the Boston Local Food Fest) have developed a new app that allows and encourages people to explore the wonders of our food community!

The Eat Local MA app is part of a statewide campaign that has been organized by the SBN and the Massachusetts Coalition of Local Food and Farms in partnership with the Massachusetts Department of Agricultural Resources. The goal of the campaign is to encourage people to continue buying food grown and harvested by Massachusetts producers. In order to give people time to explore, the SBN has expanded what is usually a one-month period for their Eat Local campaign to two and the app (which is available for all devices) is scheduled to be active through September.

So if you miss the great food and finds that come from exploring your local markets and community farms, step away from Zoom and find a new digital way of engaging with the people and products that truly sustain you!
